Our Principal consultants

Plexus Consulting has two Principals: Roy Batterham and Colleen Johnson. We also have a number of consultants with specific project related skills with whom we regularly contract.

Roy Batterham

Roy has a Master of Education (Evaluation) degree with first class honours, and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Physio.) upon completion of which he was awarded the Josephine Jennings and Edith Pratt Memorial Prize for the student gaining the highest results over the four years of the course.

Roy began his career as a physiotherapist with nine years in clinical and management positions.

This was followed by six years as a Research Fellow and Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Health Program Evaluation, a joint facility of Melbourne and Monash Universities. He completed many research projects while at the Centre, and his teaching duties included elements in the Master of Public Health, Graduate Diploma in Health Economics, Graduate Diploma of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, and Master of Education (Evaluation) courses at Monash and Melbourne Universities, and in the Distance Education Certificate in Program Evaluation (Centre for Health Program Evaluation, University of Melbourne).

Roy established his own consulting company in 1999, operating as an Evaluation and Strategic Planning Consultant and providing advice and support to human service organisations needing to conduct evaluations, strategic planning or systematic performance monitoring and review.

Roy has high level expertise in designing and conducting evaluations for complex programs, in consultative procedures, and in clarifying and assessing program assumptions. He has extensive experience in needs assessment, strategic planning and development, program design analysis and review, development of performance monitoring and review systems, advanced data analysis, economic evaluation, and in providing training to human service practitioners.
